“ … it is essential, if man is not to be compelled to have recourse, as a last resort, to rebellion against tyranny and oppression, that human rights should be protected by the rule of law,” Universal Declaration of Human Rights, 1948 BIHR’s Director, Stephen Bowen, is delighted to have been invited to deliver the final lecture of the Alexander Centre Series as part of the Faversham Magna 800 Celebrations. The lecture, which takes place on Thursday 25 June 2015 is free to attend, further information can be found here.  In a world in which Kings, Barons and Popes are no longer assumed to be the political masters, Stephen will explore how the international protection of universal human rights is the living legacy of Magna Carta.
