Who is the best in movies when it comes to setting the standard for cruelty-free practices in entertainment?
They’re the winners of the OSCATS, PETA’s annual awards that honor the most animal-friendly performers and productions. This year, Joaquin Phoenix was already being honored for his role in “The Joker.” But when he accepted his Oscar for Best Actor, he topped himself with his own speech, a compassionate anti-speciesist call for unity. PETA’s Lewis Crary talks with Emil Guillermo about the all the winners, as well as Joaquin Phonenix’ Oscat moment at the Oscars.
