Food giant The Kellogg Company recently launched its first plant-based snack bar created by children under its British brand W.K. Kellogg. Available in two flavors (Orange & Carrot and Strawberry, Raspberry & Beetroot), the new W.K Kellogg by Kids Bars are made with whole grains such as oats and contain no added sugars or artificial flavors. The new vegan snacks are available at British retailer Morrison’s with further retail launches to be announced.
“So often, parents struggle when it comes to choosing healthy snacks for their children. Striking the right balance between something that’s tasty and fun for children but also nutritious can be really difficult. That’s why we’ve created a product both parents and kids will love,” Catriona Campbell-Voegt, a nutritionist at Kellogg’s UK, said. ‘‘W.K Kellogg by Kids Oaty Bars are an afternoon snack parents can be confident giving to their children because of their health credentials. They’re also a fun, tasty product which kids can enjoy.”
Vegan at Kellogg’s
Kellogg’s has been innovating its breakfast and snack offerings in recent years to be free from animal products and include healthful ingredients such as fruit and vegetables. In 2019, Kellogg’s debuted No Sugar Added granola under its British W.K. Kellogg brand which features a prominent vegan label and is made with dried apples, raspberries, and carrots—the first time in more than 110 years that Kellogg’s has added vegetables to its breakfast cereal.
Stateside, Kellogg’s is fully invested in vegan options under its MorningStar Farms brand. In September 2019, the company launched its Incogmeato vegan line of burger patties, chik’n nuggets, chik’n tenders, and plant-based sausages. The company also partnered with Disney to turn its plant-based chicken nuggets into kid-friendly Mickey Mouse shapes, which are sold in the freezer aisle at retailers nationwide.
