Severe sandstorms in several parts of Saudi Arabia turned day into night, severely affecting life and flight operations.
Sandstorms and dust storms in northern Saudi Arabia, especially in Al-Jawf and its environs, turned day into night. Meteorologists urge citizens to exercise caution when traveling in sandstorm affected areas. The dust storm is not only raging in northern regions but also in central parts of the country.
The red sandstorm severely affected life and the airlines were also affected by the storm and air operations were suspended for a few hours. According to the Saudi Meteorological Department, dust storms and sandstorms with strong winds are expected in southern and eastern Tabuk, eastern Mecca, al-Qaseem, Riyadh, eastern governorate and other areas.
Citizens in these areas are urged to use the south side doors of their homes. Doors and windows that open to the north and east should be closed.
