Statement from Dale Marshall on the International Energy Agency’s “Net-Zero by 2050” Report

Ottawa, Ont. – The International Energy Agency (IEA) has actually developed a scenario where we succeed in our battle against climate change – a perspective sorely missing from our national equivalent, the Canadian Energy Regulator. And the IEA’s conclusion is that all countries must immediately stop approving fossil fuel projects to limit warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius. All projects: oil, gas, coal, pipelines. The CER should develop a similar assessment for Canada, and all governments in Canada should heed this advice, and reject all proposals for fossil fuel projects.
