The Washington National Primate Research Center in Seattle has been knowingly importing sick monkeys, then moving them around this country, ultimately for use in labs for bad science, according to documents obtained by PETA through an open records law request. Dr.Lisa Jones Engel, a former WNPRC employee, now PETA’s senior scientific advisor for primate experimentation, has reviewed the documents and has filed complaints with state and federal authorities. The documents specifically show how the WNPRC knowingly accepted and moved infected monkeys without alerting authorities. This not only causes public health issues but also renders any science from the monkeys unusable.
