It’s time for booster, NYC Mayor de Blasio

New York Mayor Bill De Blasio gets his booster shot and asked the eligible New Yorkers to do so. Bill de Blasio got a booster dose of Johnson and Johnson as he got his first two doses of Moderna.

NYC Mayor said in a video that there have been almost 227,000 booster doses given in New York City. So, people have embraced this. And what they’ve found is it’s very easy to get that booster. It’s easy to schedule an appointment; there are obviously a lot of places you can walk in as well. And Now I will lead by example, it’s time for a booster.

Vaccine boosters are intended to help people boost their immunity from the initial vaccination series.

It might be time for your vaccine booster shot, NYC! It’ll re-up your protection and keep you safe, NYC Mayor Office tweeted.

People who received their two doses of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine at least six months ago, and are at the age of 65 or above and people who are between 18 to 65 either have an underlying medical condition or a higher risk of COVID-19 exposure due to their job, for example, health care workers or a homeless or living in a nursing home or other long-term care facility are eligible for Covid 19 boosters.

People who received two shots of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine should try to get the same vaccine as their booster, but they have the choice to receive any of the three types of vaccine authorized in the U.S. Anyone 18 or older who received the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months ago can now get a booster shot of any of the three vaccines authorized in the U.S.

Limited data show that a Moderna or Pfizer booster could result in higher antibody levels.
