Ep.200: On World AIDS Day, A PETA Scientist Remembers The Monkeys Who Have DIed in Futility

Dr. Lisa Jones-Engel, a former primate researcher now a PETA scientist, tells Emil Guillermo how bad science has kept  National Institutes of Health-funded scientists from coming up with a vaccine for HIV/AIDS. After nearly 40 years, there have been zero vaccines developed. Meanwhile tens of millions of people around the world have died. And hundreds of thousands of monkeys too, in futile experiments that have yielded nothing. Jones-Engel explains the costs to the U.S. and to the World, as well as the need to use modern science techniques like those outlined in PETA’s Research Modernization Deal.
