Since the start of Gaslit Nation, we’ve warned of Trump’s determination to use violence to consolidate power and stay in power. The 2016 election was the culmination of a coup, and the rampant corruption, purging, threats, harassment of investigators, whistleblowers, and law enforcement that followed was done to ensure that coup successfully entrenched a dictatorship. January 6, 2021 was inevitable. Our democracy cannot survive another coup.
