More than half of Afghanistan’s population facing famine

In Afghanistan, men, women and children are increasingly in dire straits: turning to begging, offering up their young daughters in marriage and even selling a kidney in order to be able to put food on the table. With most international aid cut off since the Taliban came back to power, some 23 million people – more than half the population – are facing famine.
