Air France to Stop Shipping Monkeys to Laboratories: PETA Statement

Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding Air France’s decision to stop shipping monkeys to laboratories:

Monkeys will be spared enormous suffering and death, as the monkey transport trade has been dealt another blow: Today, after a longstanding PETA campaign, Air France announced that it will end all shipments of monkeys to laboratories when its current contract ends. Air France is the last large commercial airline to cram crates of terrified monkeys into its cargo holds and send them to be hurt and killed in laboratories in the U.S. and elsewhere. Now, PETA is focusing on EGYPTAIR, which has reportedly transported as many as 5,000 monkeys through New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport since March. PETA thanks Air France for finally doing the right thing and for bringing us one step closer to shutting down the trafficking of monkeys for failed experiments in an age of state-of-the art, modern methodologies such as organs-on-chips.
