The Dems and their allied pro-choice organizations led by Planned Parenthood (PP) and NARAL surrendered Roe well in advance of the final assault (I have PP mailings referring to “the post-Roe era” as far back as last January). They refused to undertake sustained mass mobilizations in the streets, public squares, schools, workplaces, and town halls over the last six-plus months. They rejected the kinds of mass action and civil disobedience that could have enlisted millions in the cause to make it clear to the Court and the nation’s capitalist owners that overturning Roe would destroy the legitimacy of the judicial and broader governance order and destabilize the profitable functioning of the capitalist machine.
