Vegans to BBQ a ‘Dog’ on Pioneer Day

While locals are firing up the grill for Pioneer Day, PETA supporters will be serving up some food for thought on a busy local sidewalk this Sunday by barbecuing a “dog” on a grill that reads, “If You Wouldn’t Eat a Dog, Why Eat a Pig?”

When:      Sunday, July 24, 12 noon

Where:    The intersection of E. University Parkway and S. State Street, Orem

“Pigs are intelligent, sensitive individuals who deserve the same happy lives as our dogs and cats,” says PETA Executive Vice President Tracy Reiman. “PETA is urging anyone who’s disturbed by the idea of chowing down on a chow chow to extend that compassion to all other animals and go vegan.”

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to eat”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview.
