UNSC president hosts reception in honor of Pakistani-origin student for her fundraising efforts

New York: The President of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Vanessa Fraser hosted a reception in honor of Ariana Akram, a student activist of Pakistani origin, in recognition of her fundraising efforts for the flood victims at home.

The event held in at Pakistan House in Manhattan, New York.

On this occasion, in a conversation with the media, Ariana Akram said that the post-flood destructive situation in Pakistan caused her a huge pain, and she began fund raising efforts.

“In order to help the brothers and sisters who are in trouble, I collected 56 thousand dollars and I am very happy that I gave a part of this fund to the representatives of the Malta government and the rest to the flood relief fund of the Prime Minister of Pakistan,” she said.

Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Munir Akram and diplomatic officers were also present in the ceremony.

Addressing the participants, Munir Akram said that he is proud of what Ariana Akram has done for her Pakistani brothers and sisters and she is also a beacon for the youth.

On this occasion, Vanessa Fraser, briefed the participants regarding the construction of houses by Malta in the flood-affected districts of Pakistan.

While the Ambassador of Malta expressed her thoughts for Ariana Akram, she said that Ariana is not only an intelligent and talented student, but also a dynamic social worker who immediately did everything possible to help her countrymen.

At the end of the ceremony, the Ambassador of Malta presented a certificate of appreciation to Ariana Akram, a Pakistani student, and also expressed his best wishes for her bright future.
