New York: The efforts of the Pakistani American community paid off as the US authorities named the 109 Street of 101 Avenue in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York after the Muslim Philosopher and thinker of Pakistan, Allama Muhammad Iqbal.

In this regard, a grand ceremony was held, which began with the recitation of the holy Quran.

The American and Pakistani national anthems were also presented in the ceremony, after which the Pakistani community, including the Acting Consul General of Pakistan to New York Nawab Adil Khan, and American officials unveiled a plaque on the road named after Allama Iqbal.

Nawab Adil Khan said that today is a day of pride and honor for every Pakistani, overseas Pakistanis are the real ambassadors of Pakistan.

Participating in the ceremony, Assemblyman David Weprin, Assemblywoman Jennifer Rajkumar and others shed light on the philosophy of Allama Iqbal.

The speakers said that the South Asian community living in the United States is like a family, especially the Pakistani community has always been active in helping humanity. It is an honor for all to name a road after Allama Iqbal today.

At the event, the Pakistani community hoisted flags and thanked the American officials for naming the road after Allama Iqbal.
