August 21 is PETA’s 43rd birthday and our first-ever Giving for Animals Day!
PETA’s work has been creating a kinder world for all animals for the past 43 years, from shutting down cruel experiments to protesting against fashion brands’ use of animals’ skins to going undercover to expose the horrors of factory farms.
Help us end the abuse of animals by taking these 43 actions for dogs, monkeys, fish, goats, elephants, and many other animals today:
1–10. Take rapid action on PETA’s top 10 action alerts for animals this month.
11. Order a vegan starter kit to give to a friend or family member.
12. Join PETA’s text list for animals.
13. Urge Canada’s Niagara Falls Tourism to cancel its nightly fireworks displays, which terrorize companion animals and wildlife. Please call Niagara Falls Tourism at 1-800-563-2557 (option 0) and ask that it switch to cutting-edge, modern laser or drone shows, which would allow everyone to experience a quieter, cleaner, and less stressful summer.
14. Show your love for animals with PETA merch. All profits go directly toward supporting PETA’s vital work. Some of our favorites include stickers, the humane bug catcher, and a book all about cats, 250 Vital Things Your Cat Wants You to Know by PETA President Ingrid Newkirk.
15–26. Take rapid action for monkeys, dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, and other animals used and killed in painful experiments.
27. Join PETA’s Action Team to help animals.
28. Make a splash with a fun animal- and eco-friendly “trash-fishing” excursion.
29. Does your college or university test on animals? If so, write a letter to the school’s president or post a message on the institution’s social media pages. If you’re an alum, make the powerful statement that you won’t donate any money to the school until it ends animal testing on campus.
30–36. Take rapid action for goats who are cruelly exploited for mohair, cashmere, milk, and meat.
37. Volunteer to walk dogs at your local animal shelter, take their adoption photos, or play with cats.
38. Buy only cruelty-free products. Before you go shopping, check PETA’s Beauty Without Bunnies website or app to make sure the products you buy weren’t tested on animals.
39. Keep up to date on all PETA’s campaigns by subscribing to The PETA Podcast and following us on social media.
40–42. Take rapid action to tell festivals and fairs to leave wild animals in peace.
43. Inspire others by sharing these actions on social media.
Thank you for speaking up and being a hero for animals today!
