Every time I go into the field for work, I’m keenly aware that it feels like I’m taking a direct route to my own grave. I slip from corner to corner, walking with so much care that it’s as if I must be a deadly threat to someone. I’m not a fighter. I have never held a gun or engaged in a fight. I don’t believe I’m a threat to Israel or anyone else — I’m just a writer who tells people’s stories.
