As we mark one year since the launch of our fact-finding mission report series, “Fundamental Freedoms and Sustainable Development,” it’s with immense pride and anticipation that we present an update on the strides made and the impact achieved in these “One Year Later” briefs.
Since their publication, these reports have catalysed significant shifts in discourse and action across six countries: Myanmar, the Philippines, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka. Conducted by FORUM-ASIA and its dedicated members and partners within each country, these reports have continued to serve as a cornerstone for informed decision-making and policy formulation by the communities and stakeholders.
A year later, the profound insights and perspectives from defenders of the environment and champions of fundamental freedoms persistently resonate. The synthesis of extensive surveys conducted within these communities has preserved its significance. The briefs mark not only the documentation of challenges but also the fruition of tangible recommendations.
As we reflect on this one-year milestone, FORUM-ASIA remains steadfast in its conviction that these reports continue to serve as invaluable resources. They contribute significantly to ongoing dialogues on sustainable development and human rights, further fostering a nuanced comprehension of the intricate relationship between fundamental freedoms and sustainable progress.
