The Ink is hiring!

The work we do at The Ink — from interviews and essays to roundups, podcasts, and video — takes a lot of research, reporting, writing, and editing. We’ve worked hard to make The Ink something you’re eager to open each time you see us in your inbox. This year, with more editorial support, we’ve been able to bring you far more than before.

But as we look ahead, we want to make The Ink even more essential to you. We aim to bring you the fresh perspectives you need to make sense of the world each day — and to do that, we could use more hands on deck.

Right now, we’re looking for a couple of things: someone who can report and write at least a couple of posts a week (the kind of insightful Q+As, roundups, and short essays on the significant news of the week we do regularly, and new ideas we’ve been considering and may not even have envisioned); and someone who can take on some back-end editorial and production work (that’s everything from editing Anand’s posts, to copyediting, photo research, and posting, to setting up interviews and editing transcripts, and even doing audio and video editing if you have those skills). Pay for these part-time, freelance positions will be in the range of $30 to $70 per hour depending on role, scope, and experience.

So if you’re a writer, editor, producer, or content creator with an interest in what The Ink does and you think you’d like to contribute on a regular basis, we’d love to hear from you. And if that sounds like someone you know, please share this. We encourage you to send this call on to journalists you know.

To get started, just fill out the short form below, send along a resume and cover letter outlining anything about your background, talents, and interest in The Ink that the resume might not capture, and some links to your published work if you’ve got them.
