Fox News host: “just kill ’em”

The video above is taken from an episode of Fox & Friends. At the start of the video, host Lawrence Jones says:

Billions of dollars to mental health and homeless population; a lot of them don’t want to take the programmes; a lot of them don’t want to get the help that is necessary – you can’t give them a choice. Either you take the resources that we’re gonna give you, or you decide that you gotta be locked up in jail. That’s the way it has to be now.

Kilmeade adds to this, saying:

Or involuntary lethal injection.

Jones says “yeah” in response to this, but he seems to cut off his agreement when he processes what Kilmeade said – a look of shock on his face.

Kilmeade finishes his point by saying:

Just kill ’em.

Killmeade has since apologised for his remark, stating:

I wrongly said they should get lethal injection. I apologize for that extremely callous remark. I am obviously aware that not all mentally ill, homeless people act as the perpetrator did in North Carolina and that so many homeless people deserve our empathy and compassion.

His apology follows strong condemnation online:

Our veterans have disproportionately high rates of homelessness. Many of the programs they’re talking about are geared to our veterans, for good reason. It never takes much to scratch the surface under their paper thin patriotism to reveal a deep disregard and dehumanization of our veterans.

The apology itself has also attracted criticism:
