Israel has within the last few hours bombed a communal kitchen in the so-called ‘safe zone’ of al-Mawasi, Khan Younis.

Among those murdered in the strike were the three brothers who ran it – Osama Jumaa Shurrab, Mohammad Jumaa Shurrab and Ahmad Jumaa Shurrab. Israel had already killed a fourth brother, Salem, in March last year.

Since late 2023, Israel has ordered hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to crowd into tiny al-Mawasi, promising them it would be a protected ‘safe zone’. It has been bombed daily, often targeting the tents of refugee families and the places they seek food.
