On Sunday night, Venezuela reported that local far-right extremists are planning to plant explosives at the closed United States embassy in Caracas in what it called a false flag operation.

Jorge Rodríguez, the head of the Venezuelan Peace Dialogues process and president of the National Assembly, reported that Caracas warned the US government about the intelligence report using three different channels. An incident of this caliber could be used to justify a direct US military action against Venezuela.

“As Venezuela’s head of dialogue and peace, I want to announce that we have warned the US government through three different channels of a serious threat, a false flag operation orchestrated by extremist sectors of the local far-right,” Rodríguez said.
