Trump brags about surviving assassination attempt at Charlie Kirk memorial

Demonstrating his complete inability to stay on topic, Donald Trump said the following at an event designed to celebrate Charlie Kirk:

Trump’s turn in time

In the video above, Trump says that sniper rifles were:

fired at ICE agents and me. You know. But I was… I made a turn at a good time. I made a turn at a good time. I turned to the right. Charlie couldn’t believe it actually.

Trump laughed at this point, before continuing:

How the hell did you make that turn, I said I don’t know.

People have suggested the event wasn’t an appropriate place for Trump to brag about how good he is at not getting shot:

Crackdown

While it’s funny to watch Trump being so oblivious, his crackdown on free speech is no joke:

Speaking on the weird disconnect between Trump’s words and his actions, streamer Hasan Piker said:

No matter how fortuitous this could have been for their ambitions to violate the first amendment and to further prosecute political enemies of the state, his own ego – his own narcissism – is unironically getting in the way of him communicating how serious this is; how important this is.

The sad truth is that Charlie Kirk probably would have supported this crackdown.

He probably wouldn’t have supported Trump bragging about living at his memorial, of course, but you can’t win them all.
