Last night the families and supporters of the now-six hunger-striking political prisoners, who have already been imprisoned without trial for a year and a half for opposing Israel’s genocide in Gaza, held a press conference to update the public on the situation of the strikers and the campaign to help them. They had to hold a press conference, because ‘mainstream’ media have ignored the case, or grossly misrepresented it.

Gerry Tasker was there and interviewed, on behalf of Skwawkbox, one of the speakers at the event – A&E specialist Dr James Smith. Dr. Smith said that the situation for the hunger-strikers is gravely dangerous and that the government and prison system are intentionally failing to meet their legal and medical obligations to the hunger-strikers to make an example of them to discourage activism to save Palestinians and oppose genocide.

And he said that almost 900 doctors have just written to Keir Starmer and his ‘justice’ secretary David Lammy to tell them that:

Starmer and Lammy are full collaborators in Israel’s genocide and waging war on the rights and freedoms, often the literal freedom, of UK people to protect the genocidal colony and its interests.
