Coronavirus in China: Hubei province’s residents treated as pariahs
Coronavirus in China has had, of course, a human toll, but it’s also sewn a level of mistrust in the country. As the crisis worsened, Hubei province was effectively sealed off. Residents who were away at the time found themselves unable to return home, trapped on the outside and treated like pariahs. Many have been unable to find work or a place to sleep at night.
