PETA has been alerted to the proposed rezoning of land along W. Arkansas Highway 12 in Highfill, Arkansas, which we’re told is a well-established nesting area for bald eagles. We urged town officials to deny permits that would allow billion-dollar development company D.R. Horton to bulldoze and build on this land, but we haven’t received confirmation that the permits will be denied. Photographs captured recently appear to bear out locals’ claims that the nests are active.
We understand that this issue is slated to be discussed at the next town council meeting, on December 12. Please politely call and e-mail town officials, encouraging them to safeguard these beautiful and federally protected birds by offering assurance that no permits will be issued to develop this particular area:
