Onion prices in some parts of the world are eye-wateringly high. India, one of the world’s biggest producers, has limited exports, sparking smuggling and price hikes abroad. Protesters say the security forces are to blame. Plus, a state of emergency has been declared in Papua New Guinea’s capital after more than a dozen people were killed in unrest.
