Gulp … is it real? Money-laundering laws finally introduced to Parliament … beneficial ownership too?

AML-CTF

After 17 years, umpteen false dawns, and pressure from international authorities, an Australia government is finally poised to introduce money-laundering legislation to cover lawyers, accountants and property types. What’s the scam?

The scam is it’s scarcely believable but the proposed amendment looks clean and Labor does control the House so you would think AML-CTF Tranche II would pass the Senate with minor party support. The upshot? Lawyers, accountants and property developers would be forced to curtail their money laundering activities.
