An MP in the House of Commons has claimed that Islamophobia doesn’t really exist.
The appalling interjection came as independent MP Shockat Adam described various hate-driven attacks on Muslims for being Muslims:
Keir Starmer claimed to agree, but as usual it was mere posturing. The PM was silent after a racist attack on a Peterborough mosque last month and his government is scrapping a planned official definition of Islamophobia, while his cronies running the NHS force workers to undergo pro-Israel ‘antisemitism training’.
The Muslim Vote group said of today’s parliamentary denialism that:
[An] MP [said] “it’s not” in response to Shockat Adam saying “Islamophobia is real”. Seconds later two MPs are laughing as he describes violence Zainab Hussein experienced for simply being a Muslim.
This clip alone is evidence that islamophobia exists
This establishment racism extends far beyond Starmer, his front bench and whichever racist MP made today’s comment. MPs and peers grilled the head of West Midlands Police this week on why the racist thugs of Maccabi Tel Aviv were banned from attending the club’s match in Birmingham last month. No such grilling took place after two women were raped in the region in horrific racially-aggravated attacks.
