If Kansas City Chiefs safety Tyrann Mathieu gets an interception during this year’s Super Bowl, PETA will get $100,000 to help dogs in need! That’s the offer made by a generous anonymous donor, in honor of Mathieu’s longstanding support of PETA.
This #SuperBowl bet could have a huge payoff… for dogs stuck outdoors.
A donor will give PETA $100,000 if @Chiefs superstar safety @Mathieu_Era completes an interception on Sunday.
We’re always rooting for him, but now our fingers are double-crossed

The $100,000 donation would go toward our campaign to help neglected dogs, for which Mathieu has starred in two viral videos.
He baked inside a hot car, where dogs can succumb to heatstroke within minutes …
… and he shivered inside a walk-in freezer to illustrate how dogs suffer when they’re left outside during the frigid winter months.
For putting his own body on the line to help animals, we honored him with a PETA Humanitarian Award at our 40th anniversary celebration. His teammate Patrick Mahomes presented the award, calling Mathieu “not only an asset to our team but to animals who need protection.” We agree wholeheartedly!
“PETA has found a selfless dog defender in Tyrann Mathieu,” says PETA Senior Vice President Lisa Lange. “We’ll be cheering him on this Sunday, knowing how pleased he’d be to win such a generous donation for the neglected animals he cares about.”
You Can Score Points for Animals, Too
Before you watch the big game, watch Breaking the Chain—a new documentary from executive producer Anjelica Huston that follows PETA’s field team as they help neglected, chained dogs in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. You’ll discover more about the work that PETA and Mathieu champion—including supplying free custom-built doghouses, straw bedding, and veterinary services to dogs in low-income communities. And we think you’ll be inspired to be a defender for dogs in your own community, too.
