Grok is now depicting Elon Musk’s grizzly murder

In a series of now-deleted tweets, Twitter’s very own AI, Grok, has depicted the grizzly murder of Elon Musk:

This chain of events tells us two things:

  • Musk’s company xAI seemingly hasn’t coded Grok to prevent this sort of grisly imagery, even when the generated images feature their boss.
  • Users were suspended after posting the images, meaning that Musk’s commitment to free speech and comedy are once again being called into question.

Comedy?

While many no doubt think there’s nothing funny about the above images, it’s fairly obvious that the people who created them were amusing themselves. As you can see with this next image, a user asked Grok to replace the knife man with Donald Trump:

The background was then changed to Little St. James, which was the island owned by Jeffrey Epstein. Epstein himself would also come to feature, although it took several prompts to get him looking right, and even then…

The style then shifted entirely:

At the time of writing, some variations remain accessible, although the user who prompted them has been suspended:

This final one is a twist on the above with more… let’s say… milk.

Musk famously said the following after he acquired Twitter:

He’s repeated this many times since:

This was a reaction to the days when Twitter had more obvious moderation. People would get banned for calling others a r***** (mentally disabled person) or likening Black women to gorillas. This sort of comedy is so prevalent now. In fact, when I went to search for an example, I literally didn’t need to. This was the top tweet in my news feed:

The above images of Musk’s untimely demise would obviously fall under the same blanket of edgy, 4chan-style humour, and yet the pictures are now gone.

The thinnest skin

Musk can enjoy edgy humour as much as he likes, but if his enjoyment dissolves whenever he’s the but of the joke, he’s clearly not in it for the yucks; he just likes being mean to other people and getting away with it.

Let’s be honest, most of us wouldn’t want images of grisly murder depicted on our own website, but most of us don’t refer to ourselves as based kings of comedy:
