Farage ‘fake news machine’ capitalises on terminally ill child

A Facebook page called ‘Britain Awakens’ has been caught pushing AI slop content featuring Nigel Farage and a terminally ill child.

Farage with an ai cancer victim

It’s far from the only instance of this page duping voters. And while there’s no evidence to suggest Reform UK or Nigel Farage are running the page, it’s certainly appealing to a section of their voters.

Farage: slopaganda

The post in question includes the following text, which was almost certainly written by AI:

The World Fell Silent for This Moment.
A 7-year-old girl, battling terminal brain cancer, made one final wish.
Not Disneyland.
Not princesses.
Not miracles.
She asked for Nigel Farage.
When the message reached him, he didn’t send a video.
He didn’t make a call.
He didn’t ask for cameras.
Instead, Nigel Farage canceled everything, boarded a plane, and walked quietly into a hospital room no one was watching.
No spotlight.
No audience.
Just a man kneeling beside a hospital bed, holding a fragile hand, whispering words so powerful that doctors and nurses broke down in tears.
For a few minutes, the outside world disappeared.
Fame meant nothing.
Power meant nothing.
Only love remained.
This moment is spreading across the internet — not because it was filmed, but because what he said to her…will haunt hearts forever.

This may shock you, but none of the above happened.

Not in this order, anyway.

There are stories about Farage voicing ‘powerful words’ that made people cry, but those stories are significantly less heart warming:

We’re confident the text is AI, because why would the sort of person who peddles this shite not use AI?

They clearly have no moral character, so why choose the path of most resistance?

Oh, and the post is doing numbers on Facebook by the way:

We’re sorry, but if you clicked ‘emoji hugging a heart‘ in response to this story, you need a cognitive exam.

Slop world

While Britain Awakens identified the terminally ill child as a girl, a previous Facebook post (minus Farage) claimed the child is a boy. There’s every chance both stories are AI slop, though, because that’s what Facebook is now – a slop depository:

Britain Awakens is just one of many AI slop channels which are profiting from this drek. Their specific niche is endless Farage fan fiction.

The following post features the entirely made up ‘Kirsten Farage’:

This next one suggests Farage is actually a migrant to the UK (and also that he uses they/them pronouns):

Shelf life

Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg has turned Facebook into the social media equivalent of a blocked festival toilet. While he’s making money off it in the short term, it’s hard to imagine this makes sense as a long-term strategy. Young people have already turned away from Meta platforms in droves, and the slop tsunami is hardly going to pull them back.
