The last few months have been a wild ride for Yves Veggie Cuisine. In August 2025, the sad news broke that the popular Canadian plant-based meat brand—a pioneer in the industry—was closing for good.
“We’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue the Yves brand,” a statement read. “This wasn’t a decision we made lightly—it was made after careful consideration of how we can best focus our efforts to ensure long-term growth across our brand portfolio.”
Then, eight months later, came a glimmer of hope. In April, VegNews reported that Yves Veggie Cuisine might be coming back from the dead. It turned out that, in January, ownership of the Yves trademark had been transferred from its former owner, Hain Celestial Canada, to Maple Leaf Foods, a major Canadian meat producer.
Now, we can officially confirm the news: Yves Veggie Cuisine has been resurrected.
The return of Yves Veggie Cuisine
Adam Grogan, president and chief operating officer of Maple Leaf Foods, recently told Grocery Business that the company has big plans for the future of Yves. Maple Leaf Foods has been expanding its plant-based portfolio and has previously invested in brands like Lightlife Foods and Field Roast.
“Plant protein remains a core part of our vision to be the most sustainable protein company on earth,” Grogan told Grocery Business. He added: “We see Yves as a gateway brand—particularly for consumers looking to incorporate plant protein into their diets in a more approachable way.”

Grogan also confirmed that six Yves products—Yves Veggie Ground Round in original and large sizes, Mexican Veggie Ground Round, Veggie Ham Slices and Veggie Turkey Slices—will return to grocery store shelves on July 1 this year, coinciding with Canada Day. He added that there are no plans for major recipe changes and that all new products will be manufactured in Maple Leaf’s facilities.
There could be more products on the horizon. In February, trademarks were filed for a range of items, including bacon, hot dogs, sausages, burgers, jerky, chili, and prepared meals.
Not everyone will be thrilled that such a beloved legacy brand is now owned by a meat giant. Still, many customers will undoubtedly be happy to see the return of Yves Veggie Cuisine. When the original announcement was made, fans were vocal about their disappointment.
“Another voice begging you to reconsider discontinuing your product line. You clearly have the market base, and this decision will negatively impact the diets of thousands of people,” one Facebook user wrote at the time.
