The New York Primary Election Center conducted a virtual workshop to raise awareness of the new voting system introduced in the primary election. In which social media users including journalists asked questions about the working method of the new voting system. New York City Voters Approve Rank Voting System for Primary and Special Elections Starting June 2021 in November 2019، under which citizens can now choose five candidates on priority basis. APNA Community Center, in partnership with the New York Civic Engagement Commission, Democracy New York and the Mayor’s Office of Immigration Affairs, organized a workshop to raise awareness about the rank voting system. Erum Hanif, chief executive officer of his community Brooklyn Center, performed as translator.

At the meeting, Sarah O’Leary Wood briefed the citizens on the Rank Voting System, saying that it is a system in which voters vote for more than one candidate on a priority basis according to the qualifications of the candidates. With this system, voters can vote for less popular candidates as per their choice
On the occasion, Tirtho Datta from Democracy New York provided information to the citizens through a presentation on the voting process and counting process of the Rank Voting System.
The virtual meeting was also attended by community center, executive, Pervez Siddiqui, and Ajio Yousaf, Mayor of the Office of Immigration Affairs. He said that the rank voting system is best for women and less popular candidates. Because in this process, five candidates have to be selected on priority basis and finally the best candidate is chosen A question and answer session on rank voting system was also held in the meeting. Senior Journalist and President Vosa TV Faheem Mian and Mohsin Zaheer of Urdu News, Social media users asked questions of Daniel Ibrahim, Tirtho Datta and Erum Hanif to which they also gave detailed answers.
