PETA Statement re Arrest of Horse Trainer Chad Brown

Please see the following statement from PETA Senior Vice President Kathy Guillermo regarding last night’s arrest of Thoroughbred trainer Chad Brown for alleged domestic violence:

It appears that Thoroughbred trainer Chad Brown is a despicable, violent bully, whether the victims are horses, his employees, or his girlfriend. Three of the nine horses who have died at Saratoga Race Course so far this year were trained by him, and his appalling record of worker wage theft led to a U.S. Department of Labor investigation and a $1.6 million fine. Racing needs to boot out all unethical, violent abusers, and New Yorkers shouldn’t have to prop up the cruelty of this industry with $230 million in subsidies every year.

PETA—whose motto reads, in part, that “animals are not ours to use for entertainment or abuse in any other way”—opposes speciesism, a human-supremacist worldview. For more information, please visit PETA.org or follow the group on Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram.
