  • Teenager says no to Elon Musk’s $5000 offer to shut down jet tracker

    “Can you take this down? It is a security risk.”

    Elon Musk opened a conversation with a teenager over Twitter DM last fall. He was referencing a Twitter account, called @ElonJet, which tracks the movements of his private jet around the world.

    Jack Sweeney, a 19-year-old from Florida, rejected a $5,000 offer from Elon Musk to delete his Twitter account that tracks the billionaire’s private jet.

    @ElonJet has over 150,000 followers, and uses a bot that Sweeney developed to monitor Musk’s flights. The feed then tweets out when and where the plane takes off or lands and the duration of each trip.

    The college freshman has developed about a dozen other flight bot accounts that track the travels of high-profile tech titans, including Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos.

    The initial direct message from Musk came November 30, Protocol first reported.

    “Can you take this down?” Musk asked Sweeney. “It’s a security risk.”

    The Tesla and SpaceX CEO eventually offered the teenager $5,000 to help prevent crazy people from tracking his flights.  Sweeney countered asking for $50,000, saying he could use the money for college and maybe a Tesla (TSLA) Model 3.

    “I don’t love the idea of being shot by a nutcase,” Musk said.

    The last message exchange was Wednesday, Jan. 19, when Musk said it didn’t feel right to pay to shut this down. CNN Business has viewed the messages.

    “Options other than remuneration like an internship would make taking it down a lot easier,” Sweeney replied. Musk has not yet responded.

    Sweeney said he’s been a fan of SpaceX since the first Falcon Heavy launch in 2018.

    “5,000 is not enough for how much I get out of it,” Sweeney said. “It doesn’t replace anything, like the enjoyment factor.”

Peoples in Dubai can witness the beautiful display of lights.

    In Chinese culture, the tiger symbolizes bravery, vigor and strength that can lift people from adversity and usher in final auspiciousness and peace. The tiger is the third of the 12 Chinese Zodiac animals, which also include rat, ox, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog, and pig.

    President Xi said in his Spring Festival message which stressed the importance of unity of the country in forging ahead towards national rejuvenation saying that as long as 1.4 billion Chinese people work together for a shared future, China will continue to work miracles on its journey forward.

  • WMO certifies two Megaflash lightning records

    According to the Associated Press, a bolt of lightning that stretched nearly 500 miles across three U.S. states is the new world record holder for longest flash.

    According to the World Meteorological Organization, the single flash extended 477.2 miles (768 kilometers) across Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi in 29 April 2020, the World Meteorological Organization said Monday. This is the same as the distance between London (UK) and Hamburg (Germany). That beat the old record set in 2018 in Brazil of 440.6 miles (709 kilometers).

    Also in 18 June 2020, a single lightning flash over Uruguay and northern Argentina lasted 17.1 seconds, nipping the old time record of 16.7 seconds. The previous record was also over northern Argentina.

    According to the AP news, normally lightning doesn’t stretch farther than 10 miles and lasts less than a second, said Arizona State University’s Randall Cerveny, who is the chief of records confirmation for the meteorological organization.

    “These two lightning flash records are absolutely extraordinary,” Cerveny said in an email. Both were cloud-to-cloud, several thousand feet above the ground, so no one was in danger, he said.

    These records, which are not linked to climate change, were spotted and confirmed thanks to new satellite tracking technology. Both regions are two of the few places in the world prone to the type of intense storms that can produce what are called “mega flashes, Cerveny said.

  • FEMA to facilitate the Covid deceased families.

    The U.S. government passed the Corona Virus Response and Relief Supplementary Appropriation Act-CRRSAA and the American Rescue Plan-ARP Act 2021 to provide financial assistance to the heirs of those died due to Corona virus. Family members of those who died in Corona since the beginning of January 2020 are being reimbursed by the Federal Emergencies Management Agency-FEMA for funeral expenses.

    According to the act, Individuals who have paid the cost of one or more deaths from Covid can obtain a refund of the costs incurred by submitting an application to FEMA with the required and complete information. Under the law, the applicant is paid up to $9,000 per funeral, but a house with more than one death can be paid up to $35,000.

    All U.S. and non-U.S. citizens who have a family member living in the US or who have died due to Covid or its complications may benefit from this facility.

    The affected applicant is required to provide his / her full name, email, social security number, phone number, annual income, death certificate of the deceased and other necessary information.

    If the Death Certificate is issued between January 20 and May 16, 2020, then the cause of death on the certificate must be Corona and a certified statement of their physician. In this regard, the application can also be submitted by contacting the toll free number provided by FEMA.

  • China’s New Winged Rocket Can Fly New York from Beijing in just one Hour

    Hypersonic is a term that usually associated with military-related projects, but commercial aviation is also trying to revive the concept of ultra-fast flight.

    A Beijing-based company “Space Transportation” plans on winged rocket that can soar from Beijing to New York in just one hour.

    Chinese aerospace firm is developing a “rocket with wings” designed for space tourism as well as point to point travel.

     “We are developing a winged rocket for high-speed, point-to-point transportation, which is lower in cost than rockets that carry satellites and faster than traditional aircraft,” the company said in a recent interview with Yicheng Times.

    According to a report from Space.com, the space plane would aim to provide rapid transport between two locations on Earth through suborbital travel and be fully reusable.

    The company revealed that ground tests are planned by 2023 with a first flight in 2024 and a crewed flight in 2025. Even more ambitiously, a test flight of a global, or orbital, crewed space vehicle is planned by 2030, the company says.

    According to the company’s website, space plane will travel at speed of approximately 2,600 mph (4,184 km/h), meaning that it could fly from New York to London in about an hour.

    The company’s website release a video that shows passengers board a plane attached to a large triangular paragliders-like wing featuring two large rocket boosters. After takeoff, the plane detaches from the wing and flies through suborbital space. The wing lands back safely on Earth while the space plane carried on to its destination.

  • Israel President high-profile diplomatic trip to UAE.

    United Arab Emirates warm welcome’s the arrival of Israel’s President Isaac Herzog on Sunday, in the latest high-profile diplomatic trip since the countries normalized its ties. 

    Herzog is travelling with the first lady, is scheduled to meet with Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, his office said. 

    “Flying now with my wife Michal for a historic visit in the UAE, symbolizes above all the promise of peace between nations,” he tweeted before departing to Abu Dhabi. 

    Herzog will also sit down with the UAE prime minister and ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and visit the Expo 2020 Dubai, his office added.

    The visit scheduled after 16 months after the wealthy Gulf country forged diplomatic ties with Israel, becoming the third Arab nation after Egypt and Jordan.

    The Emirati ambassador in Israel, Mohamed Al Khaja, tweeted Saturday that the trip was previously scheduled for January 9 but “was postponed due to Covid-19 conditions”.

    “We look forward to this historic visit, which will enhance the bilateral relations as we aim to sign important economic and trade agreements between the two countries in the near future,” he added.

     

    The UAE-Israel normalization deal was part of a series of US-brokered agreements known as the Abraham Accords, pacts that have annoyed the Palestinians.  

    The deals broke with decades of Arab League consensus against recognizing Israel until it signs a peace agreement establishing a Palestinian state with a capital in east Jerusalem. 

    Prime Minister Naftali Bennett made history last month when he became the first Israeli head of government to visit UAE, in a trip that partly focused on international talks on Iran’s nuclear program, a top Israeli security priority. 

    Herzog, whose position is largely ceremonial, is the first Israeli head of state to officially visit the UAE.

    The Abraham Accords were negotiated under former US president Donald Trump but endorsed by President Joe Biden’s administration. 

    Bahrain and Morocco have also normalized ties with Israel under the accords.

  • Extra-judicial killing of 5 Kashmiris in IOJK, Pakistan strongly condemns.

    Pakistan reiterated United Nations for the accountability of the Indian occupation forces and strongly condemned the extra-judicial killing of five Kashmiris in Indian-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK).

    The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), issued a statement that Indian occupation forces killed five Kashmiris in Pulwama and Budgam on January 29 and 30, 2022.

    According to MOFA statement,

    “In the month of January alone, Indian occupation forces have martyred at least 23 Kashmiris in fake ‘encounters’ and so-called cordon-and-search operations”.

    Far-right extremist “Hindutva’ ideology provokes and condones genocide of Muslims, the Indian forces are ruthlessly targeting the Kashmiris, especially youth of the occupied territory.

    “The international community must act to stop this cruel oppression and persecution of the besieged Kashmiris under illegal occupation,” the ministry added.

    “We also reject and condemn the Indian officials’ lies insinuating the killing of an alleged ‘Pakistani’ resistance fighter. The Indian occupation forces are known to kill innocent Kashmiris and claiming them ‘alleged militants’, in the hope of getting monetary rewards or ‘gallantry’ medals,” the statement added.

    It further said that Pakistan salutes the resilience of the Kashmiri people who continue to stand firm in their just and peaceful struggle for their legitimate right to self-determination as pledged to them by the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

    “We also reiterate to the international community, including UN, to accountable India for its systematic human rights violations and war crimes against humanity in IOJK, without further delay.

  • Scientists warn new lethal ‘NeoCov’ coronavirus found, studies.

    NeoCov a new lethal variant of Corona virus has been detected in bats especially in South Africa. A new research carried out and studies conducted by Chinese researchers and Professors of Wuhan that the virus is very dangerous and if mutated may pose a threat to humans news media reported.

    NeoCov belongs to the MERS-Middle East respiratory syndrome, a viral disease identified in 2012 in Saudi Arabia.

    “Human being cannot be infected by the recent form of NeoCov, but further mutations may make it potentially harmful”, the research papers noted.

    The authors of the study noted, “In this study, we unexpectedly found that NeoCoV and its close relative, PDF-2180-CoV, can efficiently use some types of bat Angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) and, less favourably, human ACE2 for entry,” the authors of the study noted.

    They further mentioned: “Our study demonstrates the first case of ACE2 usage in MERS-related viruses, shedding light on a potential bio-safety threat of the human emergence of an ACE2 using “MERS-CoV-2″ with both high fatality and transmission rate.”

    The research papers have also noted that infection with NeoCov could not be cross-neutralised by antibodies targeting SARS-CoV-2 or MERS-CoV.

    The authors of the study added: “Considering the extensive mutations in the RBD regions of the SARS-CoV-2 variants, especially the heavily mutated Omicron variant, these viruses may hold a latent potential to infect humans through further adaptation”.

  • Pittsburgh Bridge collapses, drops city bus into ravine

    According to the Associated Press News, a 50-year-old bridge collapsed in Pittsburgh early Friday, requiring rescuers to rappel down a ravine and form a human chain to reach a few occupants of a municipal bus that plummeted along with the span. No deaths were reported.

    At least four people required hospital treatment. Five other vehicles were also on the bridge at the time. The cause was being investigated, and crews searched under the debris for additional victims.

    A large crack showed on the end of the bridge where the segmented bus landed 150 feet (46 meters) down in the ravine.

    The Forbes Avenue Bridge over Fern Hollow Creek in Frick Park came down at 6:39 a.m., city officials said. The loud noise from the collapse was followed by a hissing sound and the smell of natural gas, witnesses said. Ruptured gas lines along the bridge produced the leak, and the supply of gas was shut off within a half-hour, city officials said.

    The collapse came hours before President Joe Biden arrived in the city to promote his $1 trillion infrastructure law, which has earmarked about $1.6 billion for Pennsylvania bridge maintenance.

    US National weather service issued a winter storm alert for Saturday morning 10am, especially for the east coast. Winter storm will develop off and the New York will get heavy snow that begins tonight.

    Temperatures during the storm will be very cold, heavy snow up to 6 to 9 inches and strong winds expected.

    The winter storm will mainly impact eastern Long Island, Eastern Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Winds over 70 mph and more than a foot of snow while blizzard conditions and severe coastal flooding will also be an alarm for East coast.

    Moreover travel advisory is also issued for weekend travelers during the storm. Wind damage and power outages in these areas are also expected due to heavy winter storm.

  • Man Broke 52 Guinness World Records in 52 Weeks

    An Idaho man is celebrating accomplishing an unusual goal of breaking 52 Guinness World Records in 52 weeks. David Rush breaks Guinness World Records to promote STEM education, said he set out to break one record a week in 2021.

    David Rush is an author, speaker, electrical engineer, and STEM advocate. He is also the holder of over 200 Guinness World Records.

    Rush’s attempts had started last January with stacking wet bars of soap. He then managed to slice the most kiwis in a minute using a samurai sword while standing on a Swiss ball.

    His feats included stacking soaps; bouncing balls into five plastic cups in record time with the help of a friend; juggling balls for 52 minutes while standing atop a Swiss ball; swiftly setting up a chessboard, and balancing nearly 20 glasses in his mouth.

    The hardest record he broke in 2021 was the fastest 100-meter dash while juggling blindfolded. To break that record, he had to stay in his lane for the full 400 meters that involved accelerating and getting up to speed.

  • UN security Council’s 8953rd session on Indian atrocities in Kashmir.

    Pakistan permanent representative and ambassador to the United Nations Munir Akram said India has deliberately use force and martyred at least 96,000 Kashmiris since 1989. More than 900,000 troops deployed in the occupied valley since August 5, 2019.

    Pakistan’s UN ambassador also brings the world body’s attention to the fact and figures while ruling party’s openly associated with extremist Hindutva and calling for the genocide of Muslims in India.

    According to the ambassador while addressing the security Council’s 8953rd meeting on the “Protection of civilians in armed conflict; War in cities and protection of civilians in urban settings”. Ambassador further added that, “Since August 5, 2019, 900,000 Indian troops have been deployed in Indian occupied Kashmir in every city, town, village and neighborhood, but arrogant Indian leaders called the act as a final solution for Jammu and Kashmir,”

    “Indian Army have resorted cordon and search operations, fake encounters to extra-judicially kill innocent Kashmiris youth, imposed collective punishment to destroy and burn the Kashmiri neighborhood, urban centers and villages, used live ammunition against peaceful protesters, including pellet guns which have blinded hundreds of Kashmiri children, arbitrarily detained 13,000 young Kashmiri boys, many of whom have been tortured. Indian administration are in the process of changing the demography of the occupied Kashmir from a Muslim majority state to a Hindu majority territory.”

    Munir Akram told the House that Pakistan has released a comprehensive and well-researched dossier last year, troubling accounts, corroborated by audio and video evidence of 3,432 cases of war crimes perpetrated by senior officers of the Indian occupation forces since 1989.

    Pakistan’s ambassador said his country calls upon the Security Council to take cognizance of the compelling evidence of these crimes and to hold accountable those Indian officials and personnel responsible for such crimes and grave breaches of international humanitarian law.

    “India is a not a victim of terrorism. It is the mothership of terrorism in South Asia. It is Pakistan which has suffered from terrorism in operations that have been conducted since 2014,” he asserted.

    “We have cleared our territories of terrorist groups. Our major challenge has been the continued terrorist attacks, financed, sponsored and supported by our neighbor India, including from the territory of Afghanistan. With the active support of the Indian intelligence agencies, the TTP and JUA terrorist groups have been involved over 1,000 cross-border terrorist attacks against Pakistani military and civilian targets in 2020 alone.”

  • Russian You Tuber Holds Guinness World Record for His Retractable Lightsaber

    Russian-born YouTuber Alex Birkin has a YouTube channel called Alex Lab where he is seen performing science experiments. He has managed to wield a sword called Light Saber from the popular science fiction movie Star Wars.

    Inspired by Star Wars, he recently imitated the light sword featured in the movie and crafted a sword that would reach the top. Alex explained that always been a huge Star Wars fan, and the lightsaber was his most-wanted device.

    His innovative machine emits a plasma blade with a height of 3 feet and a temperature of 5072 degrees. Because of this heat, Alex’s sword is capable of cutting steel.

    He has been collecting ideas and spare components for lightsaber and power equipment for many years on the internet and from junkyards.

    Alex told the Guinness Book of Records about his invention, saying that the real work on optical saber was electricity. An electrolyzer is a device that produces large amounts of hydrogen and oxygen and can compress a gas without any pressure. Alex was able to alter the hydrogen and oxygen burner to generate the shape and length required for his lightsaber after hundreds of trials and bench testing. Finally, the most difficult task was fitting the entire gas distribution system into a lightsaber handle.

    Considering all of the work that has gone into making lightsaber what it is now, Alex still has a few tweaks he wants to make to better his design.

    Since this is the first prototype, it has a lot of room for improvement. The hydrogen torch is not as stable as it could be. It only lasts 30 seconds on full power. Due to hydrogen flashback, the lightsaber can sometimes just explode up in your palm.

  • F-35C fighter crash landing on USS Carl Vinson.

    A Crash landing of a Navy F-35C Lightning II fighter on an US aircraft carrier USS Carl Vinson deployed in South China Sea resultant seven US sailors were injured on Monday. No details were provided on the cause of the incident.

    The incident took place when a stealth combat aircraft was attempting to land after routine flight operations. The investigations was under way, according to statement issued by US Pacific Fleet.

    The pilot rescued by a helicopter after ejecting and was in stable condition. Three among seven sailors were evacuated to Manila, Philippines for treatment, where their condition was also stable. Remaining four sailors were treated aboard the ship while three have been released, the statement added.

    The Vinson and another US carrier, the USS Abraham Lincoln, and their strike groups began drills Sunday in the South China Sea, following exercises with a Japanese naval ship in the Philippine Sea last week.

    Chai Ada decorated with Lahori truck art and situated next to the White City Bus station, it has become an instant hit as colorful chairs outside decorated in Pakistani truck art and gain a public’s attention.

    Earlier, Shafiq had made headlines in UK after opened a Biryani center in London using the iconic red phone box. He had to sell the phone box business as the local council and the English heritage didn’t allow him to continue his takeaway service due to regulatory issues. Now Shafiq has come up with unique idea on a much larger scale.

    Customers can pay at Chai Ada using digital currencies like classic Bitcoin as well as Ethereum, Bitcoin Cash, XRP, Verge, Litecoin, and Horizen. Shafiq has set up an mobile app which is connected to his new business and payments are made from crypto wallet accounts against the British pounds.

    New York City Mayor Eric Adams unveiled his new plan to stop gun violence, called the “Blueprint to End Gun Violence”, which lays out numerous policy proposals Mayor Adams is seeking to implement to curb the scourge of gun violence harassing New York City streets.

    The new mayor detailed his tough stance on crime, which he promised while running for office and after several high-profile shootings. The roadmap lays out Mayor Adams’ priorities to immediately address the crisis of guns on New York City streets.

    “Gun violence is a public health crisis that continues to threaten every corner of our city,” said Mayor Adams. “Public safety is my administration’s highest priority, which is why we will remove guns from our streets, protect our communities, and create a safe, prosperous, and just city for all New Yorkers.”

    Adams said his blueprint will immediately ramp up enforcement and deploy more officers in the streets and subways.

    “We will have boots on the ground in every corner of the city,” Adams said.

    Mayor Adams’ roadmap calls for both intervention and deterrence to end the gun violence epidemic affecting New York, and calls on the federal government and New York state to partner with his administration and other city entities to take immediate action to reduce gun violence.

    Mayor Adams also plans to address the root causes that lead to gun violence by growing economic opportunities, improving education, providing greater access to mental health support, and more in New York City.

  • Big fat digital wedding: Indian couple plan first Metaverse marriage

    According to CNN, as Covid-19 forces families across India to downsize or cancel their traditionally large-scale weddings, one couple has found a venue unaffected by restrictions: the Metaverse.

    Dinesh Siva Kumar Padmavathi and Janaganandhini Ramaswamy from Tamil Nadu, where wedding gatherings are currently limited to 100 people, have invited 2,000 people to their virtual reception next month. And as self-professed Potter heads, or fans of Harry Potter, the pair have opted for a Hogwarts-themed party that guests can attend via their phones, tablets, or laptops.

    “Because of the pandemic, a physical, real kind of reception is not possible with the huge number of people attending,” said Padmavathi, who goes by the name Dinesh SP, on the phone from the southern state’s capital of Chennai. “So, we decided: let’s make it in the Metaverse.”

    The groom, a 24-year-old blockchain and cryptocurrency enthusiast, worked with start-up platform TardiVerse to create a castle-like digital space inspired by Hogwarts.

    The legal wedding ceremony will still take place physically in front of close friends and relatives in Ramaswamy’s village in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district, about 170 miles from Chennai.

    But afterward, the couple will log on to join their reception, which is costing $2,016, approximately 150,000 Indian rupees to design, develop and host. The one-hour event will see the newlyweds virtually address their guests, who will be able to explore the castle and customize their avatars’ appearance and outfits.

    As well as being able to invite guests who couldn’t otherwise attend, the couple said the digital celebration has another unique advantage: they can involve Ramaswamy’s late father in the proceedings.

    “My father-in-law passed away last April,” Padmavathi said. “So, I’m creating a 3D avatar that looks similar to (him), and he will bless me and my fiancée. That’s something we can only do in the metaverse.”

    Sania Mirza, wife of former Pakistan cricket captain Shoaib Malik and Indian former doubles world number one said on Wednesday that she will retire from tennis at the end of this season with continuous injuries.

    She last won a women’s doubles title at the Ostrava Open in September, with China’s Zhang Shuai.

    But Mirza admits that injuries and a young family badly affected her career.

    “I do feel my recovery is taking longer, I’m putting my three-year-old son at risk by travelling so much with him, that’s something I have to take into account. I think my body is wearing down,” she said.

    “My knee was really hurting today and I’m not saying that’s the reason we lost, but I do think that it is taking time to recover as I’m getting older.”

    Mirza became the first Indian to win a WTA singles title, in 2005, in her hometown Hyderabad. She reached the fourth round of the US Open the same year and by 2007 was among the women’s top 30.

    But a wrist injury caused her to concentrate on doubles, forging a partnership with Swiss great Martina Hingis which produced three Grand Slam titles.
