The American Pakistani Public Affairs Committee (APPAC) requested in its resolution to the U.S. government to pursue an investigation of human rights violations committed against the people of Jammu and Kashmir by the state civilian administrators, right wing extremist leaders, and Indian armed forces via the International Criminal Court.

The APPAC calls upon his resolution to U.S. Congressional leaders to adhere international human rights violations by bringing forth transparency in Jammu & Kashmir and granting international media organizations, UN observers, and the greater international human rights and humanitarian community unrestricted access, without religious discrimination, to the Indian Illegal Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

It is also said in resolution to form a bipartisan committee of congressional representatives to investigate the human rights violations and to recommend the remedies for the suffering of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

“U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations should call upon India’s government to restore the democratic power and voice of the indigenous population of Jammu and Kashmir, demilitarization of Kashmir and Jammu valley, and for the end of the collective punishment of the Kashmiri people”, APPAC appealed.

APPAC said in a resolution that U.S. government, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, by way of its moral and official authority to end relentless cycles of regional violence, to commission the governments of India and Pakistan for the implementation of the long-standing UN resolutions to give the right of plebiscite and self-determination to the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

“The annexation of Jammu & Kashmir by Prime Minister Modi’s right wing extremist regime on August 5th, 2019 against the UN Security Council resolution directly undermines world peace and has given rise to armed conflicts and civil unrest in the region. Whereas, Prime Minister Modi’s regime’s decision to revoke Articles 370 and 35A has resulted in gross human rights violations and forced disappearances of the Kashmiri people”, added in resolution.

APPAC resolution quoted the two successive reports of United Nations Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) published in June 2018 and July 2019, reports extensively documenting the gross and systemic violations of human rights of the Kashmiri people by the current regime.

“UN Special Rapporteurs and Mandate Holders have addressed multiple communications to the Indian government on its unlawful actions, including PM Modi’s regime’s discriminatory laws that give wide powers to the government to persecute members of minority communities on trumped-up charges” APPAC highlighted in his document.

APPAC asked to OHCHR look into Indian oppression on people of Jammu & Kashmir and emphasized that Kashmiris have rendered immense sacrifices against the Indian Oppression. Kashmiris Right to self-determination continuously denial by Indian regime’s, while UN Security Council recognized numerous Resolutions for the Peaceful solution of the conflict.

The APPAC appeals in a resolution sent to US authorities that current regime practically changes the demography of Jammu and Kashmir and has amended domicile rules in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) in a bid to impose ethnic cleansing in the region and to advance its Hindu-supremacist agenda. They also said that region has been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, local residents categorically denied adequate healthcare resources and facilities, and further intensifying their suffering.

“Atmosphere of fear and reprisal amongst the people of Kashmir, harassment and intimidation of journalists through draconian laws (such as Unlawful Activities Prevention Act, UAPA) continues, while the international media and UN observers have been denied access to visit IIOJK” added in resolution.

APPAC also identified that Indian regime halt human rights organization and Amnesty International humanitarian work from September 29th, 2020 and government support attacks on innocent civilians.

It is also written in APPAC resolution, “According to international human rights organizations, rape and collective punishment have been used as weapons of oppression by Indian armed forces.

The U.S. Congressional leadership has recognized the current Indian regime’s abuse of power via House Resolution 745 of the 116th Congress” and “urging the Republic of India to end the restrictions on communications and mass detentions in Jammu and Kashmir as swiftly as possible and preserve religious freedom” for all residents.

The global economy is at a fork in the road, the IMF’s managing director said, warning against “major risk” that advanced economies and some emerging markets recover faster while most developing countries will suffer for the years ahead.

With several countries facing slow rollout of COVID-19 vaccines, Kristalina Georgieva asked whether or not policymakers will take action to prevent this great divergence, a press release issued by the IMF on Wednesday cited her.

This situation has not only worsened the human tragedy of the pandemic, but also the economic suffering of the most vulnerable, she asserted.

Georgieva recalled that the world GDP is expected to increase by 5.5% in 2021 and 4.2% in 2022, however, she said that versus the pre-pandemic period the cumulative per capita income will be down 13% in advanced economies, fall 18% in low-income economies and drop 22% in emerging and developing economies, excluding China.

“In other words, the convergence between countries can no longer be taken for granted,” she underlined.

Georgieva also said the young and the low-skilled women and informal workers will be affected by job losses due to the divergence.

She stated that millions of children have still disruptions to education due to measures against the spread of the coronavirus.

“Think of the challenges ahead: for G20 economies alone [excluding India and Saudi Arabia due to data limitations], total employment losses are projected at more than 25 million this year and close to 20 million in 2022,” she said.

  • Islamabad, Pakistan

Pakistani officials, academics, and defense analysts have urged the international community to take action against the perpetrators of a 1992 massacre by Armenian forces in Khojaly, Nagorno-Karabakh which left over 600 people dead.

Speaking at a seminar on Monday co-organized by Azerbaijan’s Embassy in Islamabad and the Islamabad Institute of Conflict Resolution, parliamentarian Shehryar Khan Afridi said that repeated massacres and genocides show how the world has failed to protect oppressed people living in conflict zones, as the brutal principle of “might makes right” prevails.

“Mass rapes of women in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir and Khojaly, Nagorno-Karabakh have been used by occupation forces as tools of genocide,” said Afridi, who also heads the Pakistani parliament’s Committee on Kashmir, a region disputed between Pakistan and India.

He added that Indian forces are also waging a “rape war” to advance their “genocide” of freedom-loving Kashmiris.

On Feb. 26, 1992, with the Soviet Union just dissolved, Armenian forces took over the town of Khojaly in occupied Karabakh after battering it with heavy artillery and tanks, assisted by infantry.

The massacre is seen as one of the bloodiest atrocities by Armenian forces against Azerbaijani civilians in the Upper Karabakh region, which was liberated by Azerbaijan forces last fall after decades of occupation.

The two-hour Armenian offensive on Khojaly killed 613 Azerbaijani citizens including 106 women, 63 children, and 70 elderly people and seriously injured 487 others, according to Azerbaijani figures.

Some 150 of the 1,275 Azerbaijanis that the Armenians captured during the massacre remain missing. In the massacre, eight families were completely wiped out, while 130 children lost one parent, and 25 children lost both parents.

“What has the international community, including the UN Security Council, done against the culprits who killed hundreds of innocents in Khojaly?” asked Salma Malik, a political scientist at Quaid-e-Azam University in Islamabad.

Azerbaijan Ambassador Ali Alizada said that Armenia bears full responsibility for the Khojaly massacre, whose perpetrators must brought to justice.

He said that even though there were four UN Security Council resolutions and similar statements by other groups, there has been no action or pressure against Armenia during the 30 years of occupation and no legal acts against the perpetrators of the genocide.

He stressed that that Kashmir dispute also led to several UN Security Council resolutions but similarly no implementation of these resolutions for seven decades. He said he hopes the Kashmir issue will soon be solved by amicable and peaceful means in line with relevant UN resolutions.

  • Naypyidaw, Myanmar,

Tens of thousands of anti-coup protesters rallied across Myanmar again on Monday despite a clear threat from the junta that it was prepared to use lethal force to crush what it branded “anarchy”.

The warning came after three demonstrators were shot dead over the weekend, and the funeral on Sunday for a young woman who died from bullet wounds at an earlier rally.

Massive street demonstrations have taken place since Myanmar’s military staged a coup on February 1 and detained civilian leader Aung San Suu Kyi, ending a decade-long experiment with democracy.

A civil disobedience campaign has also since choked many government operations, as well as businesses and banks, and the junta late Sunday gave its most ominous signal yet that its patience was nearing an end.

“Protesters are now inciting the people, especially emotional teenagers and youths, to a confrontation path where they will suffer the loss of life,” said a statement on state-run broadcaster MRTV.

The statement, read out in Burmese with text of the English version on the screen, cautioned protesters against inciting “riot and anarchy”.

Protesters on Monday were undeterred by the warning, with tens of thousands rallying in Yangon, Myanmar’s biggest city and commercial hub.

“We came out today to join in the protest, to fight until we win,” said Kyaw Kyaw, a 23-year-old university student.

“We are worried about the crackdown, but we will move forward. We are so angry.”

Yangon residents had woken up Monday to a heavier security presence, including police and military trucks on the roads and an embassy district barricaded.

Another protester expressed similar defiance to news agencies.

“The military unjustly took power from the elected civilian government,” said the 29-year-old, who asked not to be named.

“We will fight until we get our freedom, democracy, and justice.

Thousands also rallied in Naypyidaw, the capital and a military stronghold, with many on motorbikes. There were also large protests in the cities of Myitkyina and Dawei.

Many businesses in Yangon, and in other major cities, were closed on Monday following calls for a general strike to inject more momentum into the civil disobedience movement.

Houston, Texas, USA, has a history of 122 years, the sister city of Karachi, has a climate just alike Karachi. It usually doesn’t snow here and the temperature this week is -10 Celsius, with -15 Celsius real feel. It is said that one hundred and twenty-two years ago there was such a weather in Houston and all this happen is due to climate change.

Due to fallen temperature and severe cold, snow everywhere and emergency has been declared. Business life is suspended, restaurants, markets and government offices were closed and people are trapped in their homes.

This is not usually the weather in Houston and there is an alarming situation. Other states in US such as New York and others peoples are used to for severe cold but it doesn’t happen in Houston and the situation is very worst.
