  • A week after the attacks on tourists in Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) in which 26 people were killed, the media frenzy and war mongering in the region continues in full force. The governments of India and Pakistan continue to announce new measures against each other, while internally seeking to repress anti-war and critical voices.

In a latest move, Pakistan claimed on Tuesday, April 29 that its armed forces shot down an Indian surveillance drone (quadcopter) which was allegedly trying to violate the Line of Control (LOC) in Kashmir. Meanwhile, Pakistani officials claim that an attack from India is imminent.

  • Detroit, MI – After months of negotiations, over 900 UAW members in Orlando, FL (Local 788) and Denver, CO (Local 766) have walked out on strike at Lockheed Martin, after the company committed multiple unfair labor practices and refused to present a fair economic proposal that meets the membership’s needs.

The strike begins during a time of record taxpayer-funded profits for the U.S. government’s largest defense contractor. Lockheed Martin made $24 billion in profit and paid its CEO $66 million over the last three years. Profits were up the first quarter of 2025, with Lockheed taking in another $1.7 billion.

  • Columbia University student Mohsen Mahdawi is free on bail after a federal judge in Vermont ordered his release.

It’s the first order mandating the release of a student detained by the Trump administration. The New York Times called his release “a defeat” for the administration’s “widening crackdown against student protesters.”

“The two weeks of detention so far demonstrate great harm to a person who has been charged with no crime,” said Judge Geoffrey Crawford at an April 30 hearing. “Mr. Mahdawi, I will order you released.”

Crawford also compared Trump’s crackdown to the Red Scare and said that period of history wasn’t one that people should be proud of.

Aditya Wahyu Harsano’s case highlights how hospital officials do not care about their patients or staff, and underscores the need for healthcare workers to fight back against these attacks.

Harsono, a 33-year-old Indonesian supply chain manager at a Minnesota hospital, is a father to an eight-month-old child with special needs who was recently arrested by ICE in his former workplace Avera Hospital in Marshal, MN.

On Sunday, April 27, thousands of people demonstrated in Brussels, demanding an end to policies that would severely impact workers’ pensions and incomes, and calling for the introduction of a real millionaire’s tax and a politics of peace.

“The parties in government want everyone to work longer for less pension, particularly by introducing a malus or weakening pension indexation,” said Raoul Hedebouw, leader of the Workers’ Party of Belgium (PTB-PVDA), during Sunday’s protest.

  • The Trump Administration attacked the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) on April 1, cutting more than 90 percent of the agency’s workforce, including me.

NIOSH is the backbone of worker safety. It’s the small agency you’ve never heard of that has probably saved your life. The agency conducts vital research—testing respirators, certifying protective equipment, investigating health hazards, and providing crucial data to workers and unions.

This is not just a budget cut. It is a direct, calculated assault on the working class. Today is Workers’ Memorial Day, the day when we honor the workers who die every year from workplace injuries and illnesses.

There has been a continuous presence of campaigners outside the main gate of the base since 14 April, as well as events highlighting Lakenheath’s role in Israel’s ongoing genocide in Gaza, the role of the military in climate breakdown, and NATO’s nuclear network in Europe.

  • Over 6,000 people marched through the streets of Barry on Saturday 26 April, calling for Welsh independence. The March for Independence, organised by YesCymru and AUOBCymru, brought people together from across the country in a powerful show of unity and hope for a better future. Since 2019, thousands have taken part in independence marches across Wales – in places like Caernarfon, Merthyr, Wrexham, Bangor, Swansea, Carmarthen and Cardiff – and now Barry, Wales’s largest town, has made its mark on that journey.

Barry has a proud political legacy, including a key role in the Cymru Fydd movement for Welsh self-government in the 1890s. Saturday’s march built on that tradition, with a new generation taking up the call for change.

Speaking to MEPs, doctors, paramedics, and other health workers described the “hell” they witnessed during volunteer rotations in the Gaza Strip and explained their decision to undertake such a radical act of protest.

The health workers reasserted their demands, including the lifting of the medical blockade imposed by the occupation, the prevention of further attacks on Palestinian health workers, and, significantly, an end to European support and complicity in the genocide.

Our action, which took place on public property and when our rideshare apps were turned off, coincided with Valentines Day protests by rideshare unions across the country.

A few days later, 34 of us received emails and text messages from Uber and Lyft informing us that we were permanently banned from pick-ups at the Nashville airport. The rideshare companies falsely accused us of unlawfully picking up passengers at the arrivals level of the airport.

In Apache Stronghold v. United States, the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals last year refused to stop the federal government from transferring Oak Flat to Resolution Copper, a Chinese-owned mining company that plans to turn the site into a massive mining crater, ending Apache religious practices forever. The International Criminal Court (ICC) is now formally investigating Hungary’s blatant refusal to fulfill its legal obligation to arrest Netanyahu and send him to The Hague. States parties to the Rome Statute have a duty to cooperate with the court and facilitate the arrest of any ICC suspect who enters their territory. This comes after Moroccan dockworkers issued a call to action to boycott the Nexoe Maersk ship, following reports that the vessel would be carrying military equipment to Israel.

Members of the public marched from the foot of The Mound to the UK government building to rail against the disgraceful far-right-fueled ruling. Together, gender queer communities and allies galvanised a highly energised crowd against the Supreme Court ruling.
