Laureates from each of the major global regions travelled to Ireland to accept the Award, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Africa: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontlinedefenders.org\/en\/profile\/olivier-ndoole-bahemuke\">Olivier Bahemuke Ndoole<\/a><\/strong> (Democratic Republic of the Congo)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Americas:<a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontlinedefenders.org\/en\/profile\/segundo-ordonez\"> Segundo Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez<\/a> <\/strong>(Ecuador)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Asia and the Pacific: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontlinedefenders.org\/en\/profile\/jeany-rose-hayahay\">Jeany \u2018Rose\u2019 Hayahay<\/a><\/strong> (Philippines)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Europe and Central Asia: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontlinedefenders.org\/en\/organization\/digital-security-lab-ukraine-dslu\">Digital Security Lab Ukraine<\/a><\/strong>, represented by DSLU Executive Director Vita Volodovska (Ukraine)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Middle East and North Africa: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.frontlinedefenders.org\/en\/profile\/hala-ahed\">Hala Ahed<\/a><\/strong> (Jordan)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>\u201cT<em>his year\u2019s laureates are a courageous and inspiring group of people who reflect the determination, dynamism and diversity of human rights defenders (HRDs) who are on the front lines of fighting for a more just world,<\/em>\u201d said Olive Moore, Interim Director of Front Line Defenders. \u201cT<em>heir vital work in defence of human rights in DRC, Ecuador, Jordan, Philippines and Ukraine impacts countless people in their communities and beyond. He is also the only advocate who organises judicial training and capacity-building sessions for DRC citizens on topics related to environment and community rights in Goma, eastern DRC.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>AMERICAS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Segundo Ord\u00f3\u00f1ez (Ecuador)<\/strong>, an Afro-descendant human rights defender, is one of the most visible faces and the community representative in the two legal proceedings brought against the Japanese-owned company Furukawa Plantaciones C. A. and the State of Ecuador. The cases have focused on how workers on abac\u00e1 (Manila hemp) plantations suffer labour exploitation as they farm the raw materials in slavery-like conditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>ASIA AND THE PACIFIC<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Jeany &#8216;Rose&#8217; Hayahay (Philippines)<\/strong> is a woman human rights defender based in Mindanao, the Philippines. Since 2019, she has been the spokesperson of the Save Our Schools Network (SOS Network), a coalition of child-focused NGOs, church-based groups and other stakeholders advocating for children\u2019s right to education in Mindanao.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>EUROPE AND CENTRAL ASIA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital Security Lab Ukraine (Ukraine)<\/strong> is a team of specialists in the field of digital security and internet freedom.
