Senior officer calls for help providing basic necessities to juvenile inmates, including food and toilet paper<\/p>
A senior police officer working at the Cairns watch house says officers \u201ccannot meet\u201d basic expectations to care for children in custody \u2013 including supplying regular food and toilet paper \u2013 amid severe overcrowding in the far north Queensland lockup.<\/p>
The Queensland government last year suspended the state\u2019s Human Rights Act<\/a> to allow the indefinite detention of children in adult police holding cells.
