Guardian<\/em> journalist George Monbiot has been calling out the continued appalling abuse of people living with myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME, also known as ME\/CFS<\/a>). However, there\u2019s one prominent, powerful psychiatrist standing in the way of justice via an ‘ME inquiry’ over the<\/a> \u201cbiggest medical scandal of the 21st century\u201d: Simon Wessely<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Calls for an ME inquiry<\/h2>\n

Right now, the NHS is abusing<\/a> – and killing – (at least) two women living with severe ME. Meanwhile, the spin-doctor-to-corporate media shill machine has continued<\/a> to churn out the junk science that manufactured this unconscionable situation for people living with the devastating disease.<\/p>\n

So, Guardian<\/em> journalist George Monbiot is the latest to join people living with ME, their carers, and campaigners in calling<\/a> for the UK government to conduct an inquiry:<\/p>\n

Now we need an inquiry into the systematic mistreatment and abuse of ME\/CFS patients, a massive scandal affecting far greater numbers of people than the poorly-evidenced Gender Identity Development Services (important as that issue is).
