{"id":16771,"date":"2021-02-02T04:49:17","date_gmt":"2021-02-02T04:49:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/caitlinjohnstone.com\/?p=9468"},"modified":"2021-02-02T04:49:17","modified_gmt":"2021-02-02T04:49:17","slug":"everything-about-the-biden-administration-is-fake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radiofree.asia\/2021\/02\/02\/everything-about-the-biden-administration-is-fake\/","title":{"rendered":"Everything About The Biden Administration Is\u00a0Fake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new exclusive from <em>The Daily Beast<\/em> titled &#8220;<a\nhref=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/1rO9X\">White House Reporters: Biden Team Wanted Our Questions in Advance<\/a>&#8221; reports that the White House press corps is being pressured to provide briefing questions ahead of time in a way that makes even mainstream media journalists uncomfortable.<\/p><p>\u201cWhile it\u2019s a relief to see briefings return, particularly with a commitment to factual information, the press can&#8217;t really do its job in the briefing room if the White House is picking and choosing the questions they want,\u201d one White House correspondent told <em>The Daily Beast<\/em>. \u201cThat&#8217;s not really a free press at all.\u201d<\/p><p>\u201cIt pissed off enough reporters for people to flag it for the [White House Correspondents Association] for them to deal with it,\u201d another source reportedly said.<\/p><p>While Obama&#8217;s deputy press secretary Eric Schultz <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/1rO9X#selection-1029.9-1029.37\">calls the move<\/a> &#8220;textbook communications work&#8221; designed to ensure that Biden&#8217;s press secretary has answers ready instead of having to &#8220;repeatedly punt questions&#8221;, clearly the reporters on the job feel differently.<\/p><p>&#8220;The requests prompted concerns among the White House press corps, whose members, like many reporters, are sensitive to the perception that they are coordinating with political communications staffers,&#8221; writes the <em>Beast<\/em>.<\/p><blockquote\nclass=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\"><p\nlang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">EXCLUSIVE: White House reporters say Biden&#39;s staff is asking for their questions in advance, before Jen Psaki&#39;s televised press briefings. <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/t.co\/Mf15jFBrRm\">https:\/\/t.co\/Mf15jFBrRm<\/a><\/p><p>&mdash; Noah Shachtman (@NoahShachtman) <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NoahShachtman\/status\/1356422436229697537?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><p>Having questions in advance would indeed be a good way to help insulate press secretary Jen Psaki (for whom liberals are already <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/www.vox.com\/2021\/1\/20\/22241632\/jen-psaki-first-press-briefing-biden-administration\">developing<\/a> an <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonian.com\/2021\/01\/29\/jen-psaki-now-has-a-twitter-hashtag-psakibomb\/\">unwholesome celebrity crush<\/a>) from hard questions. This would avoid sticky situations like when Psaki deflected inquiries about treasury secretary Janet Yellen&#8217;s conflict of interest with the Citadel controversy by <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Quicktake\/status\/1354496816738422789?s=20\">babbling about Yellen being the first woman<\/a> in her position and <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/IsicaLynn\/status\/1354894529208348673\">claiming<\/a> that receiving $800,000 in speaking fees from that company is no reason for her to recuse herself.<\/p><p>So this is just one more item on the steadily growing pile of fake things about this administration. Everything about it is phony. This is the Astroturf Administration.<\/p><p>Biden and his cohorts <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/demswatchdog\/status\/1356282041889861632\">point-blank lied<\/a> about sending out $2000 checks.<\/p><p>Deportations <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/joe-biden-jamaica-honduras-immigration-guatemala-482889ed56ed3cd02c9c61ebd1e3fbb7\">are continuing unimpeded<\/a> despite all the campaign pledges to the contrary.<\/p><p>The kids in cages that <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/TVwithThinus\/status\/1009429027109724161?s=20\">made Rachel Maddow cry<\/a> on air during the Trump administration\u00a0<a\nhref=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/jemimamcevoy\/2021\/01\/25\/biden-pledged-to-sign-executive-order-about-separated-migrant-children-on-day-one-he-still-hasnt\/\">are still in their cages<\/a> and will remain there for the foreseeable future.<\/p><p>Re-entering the Iran nuclear deal seems <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2021\/01\/19\/bidens-intel-chief-says-we-are-a-long-ways-from-returning-to-iran-deal\/\">as far off as ever<\/a>, with the administration <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/thegrayzone.com\/2021\/01\/25\/biden-administrations-coercive-iran-regional-crisis\/\">continuing<\/a> Trump&#8217;s &#8220;maximum pressure campaign&#8221; even as Tehran <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/news.antiwar.com\/2021\/01\/29\/iran-says-it-will-not-comply-with-nuclear-deal-until-us-lifts-sanctions\/\">says<\/a> the US ending its cruel sanctions is a precondition to resuming the deal.<\/p><p>Biden still hasn&#8217;t taken any solid steps to end the horrific war on Yemen, or even to end US facilitation of the slaughter as he <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/caitlinjohnstone.substack.com\/p\/real-journalists-would-grill-biden\">promised<\/a> on the campaign trail (he <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/inthesetimes.com\/article\/joe-biden-yemen-war-saudi-arabia-presidential-election-foreign-policy\">could have taken major steps<\/a> toward doing this <em>the day he took office<\/em> and chose not to).<\/p><p>While this president hides from the press due to his <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/consortiumnews.com\/2020\/03\/06\/stop-calling-it-a-stutter-dozens-of-examples-show-bidens-dementia-symptoms\/\">rapidly deteriorating ability<\/a> to answer questions in complete sentences, the mass media <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2021\/01\/31\/joe-biden-spotlight-464003\">churn out think pieces<\/a> about how taking himself out of the spotlight is actually a brilliant political move.<\/p><p>As <em>Our Hidden History<\/em> recently <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OurHiddenHistry\/status\/1356418884778221570\">put it<\/a>, &#8220;We got sold a sack of political oregano.&#8221;<\/p><blockquote\nclass=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\"><p\nlang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">We got sold a sack of political oregano <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/t.co\/LQ9UeqnJsr\">https:\/\/t.co\/LQ9UeqnJsr<\/a><\/p><p>&mdash; Our Hidden History (@OurHiddenHistry) <a\nhref=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OurHiddenHistry\/status\/1356418884778221570?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 2, 2021<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote><p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p><p>And that&#8217;s all the US empire ever is, really: a murderous, tyrannical planetary oppressor covered up by varying degrees of dishonesty. During the Trump administration the depravity was a little more honest about itself, now during the Biden administration it&#8217;s a little more dishonest. The only major change is the thickness with which the makeup is slathered over the skull.<\/p><p>Everything about life in our current world order is dominated by phoniness. Our culture is manufactured by Hollywood. Our dominating political structure is manufactured by think tanks. Our perceptions of what&#8217;s going on in the world are manufactured in Langley and Arlington. The whole thing is so fake and stupid.
