The resignation came after Hancock was exposed for kissing aide Gina Coladangelo.<\/p>\n<p>Since joining JP Morgan in August 2020, Javid had been earning over <a href=\"https:\/\/publications.parliament.uk\/pa\/cm\/cmregmem\/210614\/210614.pdf\">\u00a3150k for 80-96 hours of work<\/a>\u00a0a year.<\/p>\n<p>And prior to becoming an MP, he had already been successful as an investment banker. Before leaving in 2009 to pursue his political career, reports say he was earning <a href=\"https:\/\/www.joe.co.uk\/news\/sajid-javid-jp-morgan-senior-advisor-247007\">\u00a33m at Deutsche Bank<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While at the bank, Javid held a role selling collateralised debt obligations (CDOs): financial instruments that were a leading <a href=\"https:\/\/www.investopedia.com\/ask\/answers\/032315\/were-collateralized-debt-obligations-cdo-responsible-2008-financial-crisis.asp\">cause<\/a> of the 2008 financial crash.<\/p>\n<p>John McDonnell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/politics\/2019\/aug\/05\/john-mcdonnell-questions-chancellors-suitability-for-office\">questioned Javid&#8217;s appointment<\/a> as chancellor in 2019 on this basis, as well saying he should answer questions about involvement with tax avoidance schemes.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"oL\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Matt Hancock resigns and Sajid Javid is the new Health Secretary.<br \/>Javid was hired as a paid adviser to JP Morgan last year. <br \/>JP Morgan are a major player in private healthcare. In April last year, he argued that free market policies were the only way to recover from coronavirus (Covid-19).<\/p>\n<p>In\u00a0<em>The Times, <\/em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityam.com\/sajid-javid-right-policies-can-make-economys-coronavirus-recovery-v-shaped\/\">he wrote<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Interventions that are helpful in a crisis can quickly become the best way of ensuring that we never recover.<\/p>\n<p>A free enterprise economy is the only way of creating jobs and wealth, and properly funding the public services we all rely on.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span class=\"mNoEhTw\"><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Sajid Javid is perhaps the most extreme free market rightwingers in parliament bar none, with close ties to the US.
