As Turkey quits the Istanbul convention, G\u00fcls\u00fcm Kav\u2019s group We Will Stop Femicide is helping keep women alive amid a rise in gender-based violence<\/p>
\u201cHistory is on our side,\u201d says G\u00fcls\u00fcm Kav. She leans in and speaks intensely. She has a lot to say: Kav helped create Turkey\u2019s We Will Stop Femicide (WWSF) group, and has become one of the country\u2019s leading feminist activists even as the political environment has grown more hostile.<\/p>
Amid protests<\/a>, Turkey withdrew from the Istanbul convention<\/a>, the landmark international treaty to prevent violence against women and promote equality, on Thursday.
