New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern today delivered the government’s apology for the Dawn Raids<\/a> against Pasifika overstayers.<\/p>\n

She apologised for the raids in the 1970s which happened under both Labour and National governments.<\/p>\n

“The government expresses its sorrow, remorse and regret that the Dawn Raids and random police checks occurred and that these actions were ever considered appropriate,” she said in the cultural ceremony at the Auckland Town Hall.<\/p>\n
