{"id":4680,"date":"2021-01-04T09:23:14","date_gmt":"2021-01-04T09:23:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.radiofree.org\/?p=145846"},"modified":"2021-01-04T09:23:14","modified_gmt":"2021-01-04T09:23:14","slug":"jailed-former-kyrgyz-president-transferred-to-penal-colony-for-sick-inmates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radiofree.asia\/2021\/01\/04\/jailed-former-kyrgyz-president-transferred-to-penal-colony-for-sick-inmates\/","title":{"rendered":"Jailed Former Kyrgyz President Transferred To Penal Colony For Sick Inmates"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img src=\"https:\/\/www.radiofree.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/01\/4328e442-7d8b-4800-a0cf-ef413a45ab71_cx0_cy7_cw0_w1200_r1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" \/><\/div>\n<div class=\"wsw\">\n<p>BISHKEK &#8212; A lawyer for Kyrgyzstan&#8217;s former President Almazbek Atambaev says he has been transferred from a detention center in Bishkek to a penal colony where inmates with medical conditions are treated.<\/p>\n<p>Zamir Jooshev told RFE\/RL on January 4 that his client was transferred late last month to the capital\u2019s Correctional Colony No. 47 because he was suffering from fluctuating blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>Atambaev, 64, was sentenced to 11 years and two months in prison in June over his involvement in the release of a notorious crime boss in 2013.<\/p>\n<p>In November, the Supreme Court ruled to send the case back to a Bishkek district court for retrial.
