{"id":48978,"date":"2021-02-22T15:41:38","date_gmt":"2021-02-22T15:41:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/popularresistance.org\/?p=182696"},"modified":"2021-02-22T15:41:38","modified_gmt":"2021-02-22T15:41:38","slug":"minnesota-returns-land-to-lower-sioux-indian-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/radiofree.asia\/2021\/02\/22\/minnesota-returns-land-to-lower-sioux-indian-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Minnesota Returns Land To Lower Sioux Indian Community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Minnesota Historical Society (MNHS) officially returned 114 acres of land to the Lower Sioux Indian Community, four years after the transfer was approved by the state legislature.<\/p>\n<p>The Star Tribune\u00a0reports\u00a0the land transfer became official on Feb. 12, with the MNHS returning around half of its southern property along the Minnesota River back to the tribe.<\/p>\n<p>\"I don't know if it's ever happened before, where a state gave land back to a tribe,\" Lower Sioux President Robert Larsen told the Tribune. \"[Our ancestors] paid for this land over and over with their blood, with their lives.
