China\u00a0and\u00a0Russia\u00a0are among the first countries in the world to vaccinate people, according to the website Our World in Data. By December 15, 2020, at least 1.5 million Chinese had taken a jab, compared to the U.S. and U.K. who also began their vaccination campaigns in early December and by December 15\u00a0had vaccinated around half a million people.<\/p>\n
So far\u00a0China\u00a0is leading the world in number of people who are fully vaccinated or have at least received the first jab. According to the Chinese media, as of January 23, 2021, nearly 16 million had taken a jab, closely followed by the number of people vaccinated in the U.S; as of February 9,\u00a0China\u00a0had administered 40.52 million doses and the\u00a0U.S.\u00a0had given 43.2 million.<\/p>\n
