Focusing on domestic issues, Sanchita will be discussing how the government’s denigration of the Human Rights Act, isn’t simply about our law, but is a denigration of international universal standards, something which should be of concern to all UN member states.   Organised by UPR-Info, this pre-session provides a small number of non-governmental groups with the opportunity to present their views on how well the UK is doing ahead of its Universal Periodic Review (UPR) examination on 4 May. The UPR is a process by which the human rights record of all 193 UN member states is regularly scrutinised at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. The UK's next review takes place on 4 May 2017.
