In collaboration with Arseh Sevom, the International Observatory of Human Rights has made a submission to the Special Rapporteur on contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerances for her report to the UN General Assembly on combatting glorification of Nazism, neo-Nazism and other practices that contribute to fuelling contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
The submission discusses state-sponsored anti-Semitism in Iran, the rise of anti-Semitism due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the export of anti-Semitism online by pro-Iranian social media accounts. It further explores measures adopted by states and international organizations to stop online hate speech, and the lessons learned when it comes to online content moderation.
